Several weeks ago, Oklahoma City artists Denise Duong and Gabriel Friedman created our first public art installation at Scissortail Park with a grant provided by the Kirkpatrick Family Fund in support of the upcoming Oklahoma Contemporary opening.
The Kirkpatrick Family Fund, one of the leading philanthropies providing support to nonprofit organizations in central Oklahoma, has funded a series of grants for Oklahoma City arts and cultural organizations collaborating with Oklahoma Contemporary to produce exhibitions and programs related to their opening exhibit Bright Golden Haze.
“The Unexpected Us” installation explores the magic of transformation, featuring a massive woven willow stick structure shaped like a bird, with a pulsating light suspended within a willow orb at the center as part of the Bright Golden Haze: Reflections partnership. On display through the fall, “The Unexpected Us” is located in the Lake Lens Garden by Scissortail Lake.
