How exciting to have a vacation destination right in our own backyard!
Of course, we are proud of Scissortail Park because we work here. But when others are encouraged to make the Park part of their travel itinerary, we feel, well, like we are getting a little lift in our feathers.
The premier magazine of all good things about life in the South, Southern Living, has Oklahoma City at the top of its 10 Southern Trips You Need to Take in 2020.
“Much more than an urban job hub, OKC is developing a reputation as a must-visit vacation destination.”
Wow! But there’s more.
“That’s thanks, in part, to a recent boom in the city’s arts and culture offerings, which include two new green spaces/event venues [that would be us] and a brand-new Contemporary Arts Center (including exhibition and performing arts space) opening in the spring. If you’re flying in, no need to rent a car: Oklahoma City’s new and expansive streetcar system makes navigating downtown a breeze.”
We are in good company. The list is rounded out by: Washington, D.C.; Florida’s Forgotten Coast; Lexington, Kentucky; Cape Canaveral Florida; Austin, Texas; Ashville, North Carolina; New Orleans, Louisiana; Athens, Georgia; and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

Oklahoma City and Scissortail Park are also on a Travel + Leisure top travel list for 2020. Right there between North Macedonia and Paros, Greece, is our hometown. We are, according to the esteemed travel magazine, officially “hitting our stride as an arts and cultural destination.” And the Park is a big part of this transformation.

Looks like we will be rolling out the red carpet in the New Year.
