Scissortail Sports by the YMCA

Scissortail Park and YMCA of Greater OKC have partnered together to offer new adult and youth sports programming in the Park’s newly built sports courts and fields in the Lower Park area.

Small group personal training
. This four-week variable-intensity interval training (VIIT) program is led by a certified personal trainer. Participants will get a complete workout by rotating through high-, medium- and low-intensity phases each class. Whether their goal is to lose a few pounds or improve posture and balance, there’s a place for everyone in FitCrew.

ADULT FRIDAY NIGHT SPORTS TOURNAMENTS

The Downtown YMCA in partnership with Scissortail Park will be offering Adult Sports Tournaments Friday nights beginning in February 2023. Tournaments will rotate between 3 v 3 Basketball and Pickleball. Events will run between 4-7pm.

$10 per person per date

  • 3 v 3- You can sign up, show up and participate. If you do not have a team, you can sign up and we will place you on a team. If you have a team, please specify your 2 teammates on your registration.
  • Teams and Schedules will be released by Wednesday at 12pm prior to the Friday tournament.

3 v 3 Basketball Rules:

  1. Home team will shoot for ball at the start of each game
  2. Each game will be to 21 points or 15 minutes long. The team must win by only one point.
  3. Teams score by either regular two-point baskets, or by three-point shots taken from outside the three-point circle.
  4. After a basket has been scored or a foul called, a player must put the ball in play from a line past the three-point line above the foul key.
  5. All held balls will be put into play behind the three-point line with possession given alternately to each team.
  6. On defensive rebounds or steals, players must return the ball by dribble or pass across the three-point line before a basket may be attempted. Once across the line, they do not have to pass the ball before shooting.
  7. After a basket, the team scored upon will put the ball in play.
  8. Fouls will be called by the court monitor/referee.
  9. A foul called in the act of shooting will result in one free throw, if made, will result in 2 points. A non-shooting foul will result in possession given to the team that was fouled.
  10. Each team is only allowed one 30-second timeout under the last minute of play.
  11. If the game ends in a tie after regulation time there will be a one-minute overtime period. Possession will be determined by the home team shooting for ball.
  12. Ties at the end of any overtime period will result in successive one-minute periods until the tie has been broken, with possession alternating each overtime period.

Uniform Cost

All participants will need to purchase the new Gray and Teal YMCA All Sport jersey as the old Green and White jersyes will no longer be used or allowed. They will be $25.

Spring Soccer Age Cut Off & Divisions
YMCA sports leagues are divided by the age of the participants. A valid birth certificate may be required for tournament play. The age cut off is how old the child was on August 31, 2022.  Age groups may be combined, depending on registration. Gender-specific divisions will be offered where available and may be combined into co-ed divisions.

Coaches Needed
The YMCA uses volunteer coaches to provide leadership to the community through structured athletic activities. If you are interested in coaching, please contact the Sports Department for more information or visit the Coach & Parent Resources Tab at www.quickscores.com/ymcaokc

Practices begin the week of March 20, 2023.
One practice per week on Thursdays.

Games begin March 24 or 25, 2023.  

Games will be played Saturdays.
(Games may occur on other weeknights if necessary.)

It will be an 8 game regular season. Travel to other branches or off site Soccer Clubs may occur.

  • Games will be on Wednesday nights. It will be an 8 game regular season. Game schedule will be released on March 22

No paid sports leagues, paid concessions, charitable solicitation, or product/service sales of any kind shall take place on Scissortail Park property, including fields, courts, lawns, sidewalks, buildings, playgrounds, or any other park spaces without a signed and fully executed agreement between the company/group/renter and Scissortail Park. If any sales, paid leagues, or other unpermitted activities occur on Park property without a signed agreement, the organizer(s) will be asked to leave the park immediately and shall be subject to any applicable permit fees, rental charges, fines, commission, and/or sales tax as determined by City, State, or Federal law, Park rules, the Chief Executive Officer, Operating Officer, any park director, or any of their designees.
